All of our Explore tours will include our signature themed book club - in this case our meal, discussions and décor will be inspired by Fairy Tales & Folklore. We will also make sure you have the opportunity to hear about Irish literature and legends from local experts! Plus, we have handpicked activities and locations to give you the chance to immerse yourself in fictional worlds (like an epic blacksmith demonstration)!

Day 1 - Arrive in Dublin

Meet your fellow book-lovers and step into your fairy tale world with a 3 course feast at The Knights Bar, Clontarf Castle.

Every good fairy tale has a castle, and so does our tour! Our first two nights will be spent at the stunning Clontarf Castle.

Day 2 - Dublin

Gain a different perspective of Dublin with a private Mythology & Folklore Walking Tour

Browse The Winding Stair bookshop before a 3 course lunch overlooking River Liffey. 

Explore Marsh’s Library with a VIP tour including a private viewing of rare books & manuscripts.

Dinner and an oratory delight beckons at The Stag’s Head! A local expert will share wonderful tales of Irish Folklore & Fairies.

Day 3 - Boyne Valley

We will venture outside of the city into the beautiful Boyne Valley, exploring ancient sites, including Trim Castle and the Hill of Tara.

Fully immersive yourself in Celtic history, with a blacksmith demonstration by the legendary An Gobha.

For one night we will be welcomed at the quintessentially Irish Headfort Arms Hotel.

Day 4 - Wicklow Mountains

Deep in the Wicklow Mountains, you have the opportunity to try your hand at archery and axe throwing - feel epic as you find your fantasy-esque weapon of choice.

 

We then head to the beautiful Wicklow Escape, where we will immerse ourselves in a fairy tale & folklore book club! Complete with a themed meal cooked by a private chef.

Day 5 - Windrush Farm

Unleash your creative side at a mythology and folklore themed ‘Art in the Wild’ workshop at Windrush Farm. Connect with nature, gather materials and inspiration to create something truly unique, including your own journal - the perfect tool to tell your own story! Plus, enjoy a walk on the nature reserve, followed by marshmallows by the fire!

 

For our final two nights, we will stay at the cinematic Mount Julie Estate.

Day 6 - County Tipperary
& Kilkenny

We will spend the morning taking in more of Ireland’s legends, both at Knockgraffon Fairy Fort and the Rock of Cashel.

 

Throughout the afternoon and evening we will experience the ‘St. Brigid, Spring Awakening’ Music and Arts Festival, for a dynamic celebration of nature’s resurgence.

Day 7 - Return Home via
Dublin

Following a hearty farewell breakfast, we will head back to Dublin (and reality!).

We are so confident you will have forged lifelong friends, and made some of the most beautiful memories. All while sharing your passion for literature ... with either a newfound, or growth in, love for fairy tales and folklore in particular!

Who can book tickets for this tour?

We welcome anyone over the age of 18 to join us! Solo travellers, pairs/couples, smaller groups, parents & (adult) children...any combination is welcome. Just flag to us at the time of booking who you would like to share your room with.

How many people will be on this tour?

This is a small group tour, with no more than 12 travellers including the host(s).

At our core, we are all about making new friendships and sharing passions, so we will help foster meaningful conversations and fun experiences among the group. 

What if I'm a solo traveller?

Our Explore events are perfect for solo travellers! We have designed the tour for all (solo travellers, pairs or small groups) in mind, ensuring that you can participate in all activities and feel comfortable doing so. For accommodation arrangements, you will be paired with another solo traveller for the duration of the tour.

There is no single supplement for any solo travellers.

Who leads this tour?

Sophie, our founder, will be the lead host on this tour! She will be joined by a fellow literature-lover from Novel Bound Events and our driver, who is our local expert! Specialist guides will also lead portions of the tour, so you will be getting authentic and enthusiastic expertise specific to the area we are in or theme we are focusing on.

How do we travel between locations?

A private luxury mini bus!

What is the activity/fitness level required for this tour?

Level 2. You will need to be relatively fit as some days will involve a lot of walking/being on our feet! However, we’re avoiding any strenuous hikes or inclines, so it should be a relatively relaxed break.

What book has been selected for the book club during the tour?

No book has been selected yet! We make a decision as a group a few weeks prior to the tour. 

Can I book a single room?

Potentially, yes! Please contact us at info@novelboundevents.co.uk prior to paying the deposit to discuss. We can provide you with details on which properties we are able to book a single room for, and what the additional cost would be. We will then send you an updated payment plan including this. 

What if I have additional requirements?

Please contact us prior to paying the deposit to discuss your requirements at info@novelboundevents.co.uk. 

We will do our absolute best to cater to your requests. 

Are tickets refundable?

All deposits are non refundable.

Cancellation by Customer: More than 90 days before departure: You may cancel your booking and receive a refund of any payments made, less the non-refundable deposit.

89 to 29 days before departure: You will receive a refund of 50% of the total tour price.

Less than 28 days before departure: No refunds will be issued.

Cancellation by Company: If we cancel the Tour for any reason other than Force Majeure, you will receive a full refund of all payments made.

Are you insured?

Yes, we hold public liability insurance in the UK and Ireland. 

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. You, as the traveller, are responsible for this. Please independently purchase travel insurance to cover any trip cancellation or delay, and medical treatment. Please read our T&C’s for further information.
